Occupancy Address Posting
At a minimum, new and existing occupancies shall have approved address numbers/letters placed in a position that is plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the occupancy. Additional identification in the rear of the occupancy may also be required if deemed appropriate by the code official.
All identification labels shall be of a contrasting color with their backgrounds. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabetic letters with a minimum 4 inch height and ½ inch stroke width.
Rural addresses with a fire sign shall ensure the sign is maintained free of obstructions and is visible from the street providing access to the occupancy. These signs are obtained and distributed by the Oswego Fire Protection District. If you have a sign that is in disrepair, the numbers are no longer legible, or the post and sign is no longer mounted in the ground, please contact the Oswego Fire Prevention Bureau so that repairs can be made.
