Fire Extinguishers
Portable Fire Extinguishers shall be distributed throughout in a manner such that the maximum travel distances are maintained with rated and tagged extinguishers as described below.
Fire extinguishers shall be placed in conspicuous locations such that they are unobstructed and readily accessible and recognizable – normally along a path of egress travel. Extinguishers not housed in cabinets shall use the hangers and brackets supplied with the extinguisher.
For extinguishers not exceeding 40 gross pounds in weight, they shall be installed such that the top is no greater than 5 feet above the finished floor. For extinguishers exceeding 40 gross pounds in weight, that height shall not exceed 3 ½ feet.
